Modular Art: A Collective Creation
Karlskrona Blue Port Studios hosted the collaborative project “Modular Art: A Collective Creation” alongside the debut of “The Grand Screen Exhibition”. While The Grand Screen Experience showcased contemporary digital art on a monumental scale, the Modular Art project brought a physical, tactile contrast to the venue’s Virtual Production Studio Lab. Spanning 20 meters in length and 1.6 meters in height, this analogue installation consisted of 200 unique, hand-painted canvases combined into a single unified piece. Together, the two exhibitions complemented each other by creating a direct dialogue between digital innovation and physical craftsmanship, demonstrating how technology and traditional art can coexist and enrich the same space.
The Modular Art project was a reminder of the joy, power, and value found in creating with hands, heart, and colour. We invited artists and creators to contribute an individual 40×40 cm canvas. To ensure a cohesive visual experience across the entire 20-meter installation, the individual artworks were guided by three nature-inspired themes: Sea (dominant blue tones), Earth (dominant green tones), and Sky (dominant yellow and white tones).
Behind this initiative were two local art associations, Konst i Blickpunkt and Blekingepärlor, united by a shared dedication to highlighting art and community. The exhibition was also an integrated part of the T.A.B (Innovation Hubs for Tech, Art and Business) project. Driven by Blue Science Park, with support from Region Blekinge and the Interreg South Baltic program, T.A.B aims to foster collaboration between technology, art, and future entrepreneurship.
Beyond the physical exhibition, the project was rooted in community and generosity. All participating artists donated their finished paintings, which were subsequently sold through the 3H Shop. All proceeds from the 200 artworks were directed to support the vital work of local charities and the non-profit art associations producing the project: Naturskyddsföreningen Karlskrona, Kvinnojouren Karlskrona, Sjöräddningssällskapet Karlskrona/Hasslö, Konst i Blickpunkt, and Blekingepärlor.
The event at Blue Port Studios extended beyond these attractions. The venue featured a wider range of presentations and innovative projects. International artists and creators displayed a variety of works, ranging from physical pieces in the large hall to digital creations shown on the grand screen. These additional exhibitions were also a part of the overarching T.A.B project, further emphasising the connection between technology and art.
